Long Street Association

Working together to support, promote and protect one of Cape Town’s most iconic streets.

Long Street has always been one of Cape Town’s most recognisable streets. It is known for its historic buildings, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, nightlife, creative spaces, independent businesses and layered city life.

The Long Street Association exists to bring property owners, business owners, tenants, operators and community stakeholders together with a shared goal: to support a safer, cleaner, more active and better-promoted Long Street.

This is about working together, sharing information, improving communication and creating a stronger future for the street.

Why the Association Matters

Long Street is not one business, one building or one venue. It is a district made up of many different people, spaces and experiences.

The Long Street Association helps create a collective voice for the area. By working together, members can raise concerns, support improvements, coordinate ideas and help build a more positive public image for the street.

The aim is to support practical, visible improvements while also celebrating what already makes Long Street special.

What We Are Working Towards

Safety and Communication

Creating better lines of communication between businesses, property owners, tenants, security providers and relevant city stakeholders.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Supporting a cleaner and more cared-for street through shared responsibility, reporting and practical improvements.

Business and Visitor Support

Encouraging more people to visit, explore and support Long Street businesses.

Marketing and Promotion

Using platforms like Love Long Street to highlight businesses, events, stories, heritage, food, nightlife and community initiatives.

Heritage and Street Character

Celebrating the historic buildings, original shopfronts, balconies, public art and unique details that give Long Street its identity.

Events and Activation

Supporting ideas that bring positive energy to the street, including local events, cultural moments, business collaborations and public-facing campaigns.

How Love Long Street Fits In

Love Long Street is the public-facing media and marketing platform created to help tell the story of the street.

Through photos, videos, reels, interviews, heritage features, event promotion and business highlights, Love Long Street helps show the public what is happening in the area and why the street is worth visiting.

The Long Street Association focuses on coordination, communication and support behind the scenes. Love Long Street helps share the energy, people and stories with the wider public.

Together, the goal is to help shift the conversation around Long Street and create more visibility for the businesses and people who keep the street alive.
